Pixelcut Background Remover: Free Download Sizes and Plans
The Pixelcut background remover is quick to try: there is no account wall before the cutout. The details are in the download menu and the fine print, so this review covers what you get for free, what needs a sign-in, and what the paid plans cost.
How Pixelcut remove background works
Searching for pixelcut remove bg leads to the web tool at pixelcut.ai/background-remover, which takes JPG, PNG and HEIC files up to 100 MB and 8000 × 8000 pixels. The steps Pixelcut lists are short:
- Upload an image, or click one of the sample photos.
- The AI detects the subject; a Refine brush lets you fix edges by hand.
- Download the result as a PNG with no background, or keep editing.
The same tool is in Pixelcut's iPhone and Android apps under Remove Background. There is no desktop app. Pixelcut briefly rebranded as Pixa and has since returned to the Pixelcut name, so both names still appear in places.
What you can download for free
The tool page advertises "no sign-up required", a free HD download and no watermark. On 18 September 2026 the download menu for a sample image showed the split more precisely: a preview resolution of 751 × 1080 marked free, and the full 1280 × 1840 resolution marked "Free with sign in". So the cutout itself needs no account, but the full-size file does.
The free plan is listed as "Limited Background Removal" with free export without a watermark. How limited is not spelled out on the tool page, whose FAQ calls it completely free; Pixelcut's help center says free users typically get 3 uses a day, without saying whether that counts background removals specifically. Pixelcut's FAQ also says the original resolution is kept, while its pricing page lists HD exports as a reason to upgrade.
Commercial use
Pixelcut's help center says you can use it for personal and commercial projects, and that you keep ownership of images you upload as long as you own their rights. Its pricing page, however, lists a "Commercial license" only on the paid Pro and Business cards. If commercial rights matter to your business, it is worth asking Pixelcut which page applies to free accounts. Its terms give Pixelcut a license to process uploads only to operate the service.

The table shows the US dollar prices on Pixelcut's pricing page on 18 September 2026; a yearly plan saves about 20%. Background removal on these plans is described as practically unlimited, and both list a commercial license. Pixelcut notes that prices can differ between the iPhone, Android and web versions, and it does not issue prorated refunds when you cancel.
Other background tools
After the cutout, Pixelcut's editor offers a white or colored background, a library of photo backdrops, AI-generated backgrounds from a text prompt, shadows and blur. Its bulk editor handles large batches and downloads them as a ZIP file, and there is a developer API priced at $0.01 per credit, with a background removal costing 5 credits.
Pixelcut also removes backgrounds from short videos, something CutoutBG AI does not do. On its free plan the video tool takes clips of up to 5 seconds, downloads in 720p and includes 3 downloads, with transparent exports offered as WebM, MKV, ProRes or GIF. Its own pages disagree on the maximum clip length, listing both 30 and 60 seconds.

Verdict
Pixelcut is a good pick if you edit on your phone, want AI backdrops and shadows, or need batch exports on a paid plan, where removal is practically unlimited. For a single full-size cutout without creating an account, or for clear commercial terms on the free tier, a simpler tool avoids the sign-in step.
