Getting a clean signature image
A few habits make the difference between a crisp result and a patchy one:
- Use a dark, even pen. Black or dark blue gel or felt-tip gives solid strokes. A faint ballpoint line can break up where the ink skipped.
- Plain paper, no lines. Ruled or squared paper puts extra lines next to the ink, and a watermark or letterhead can end up in the result.
- Soft, even light. Shoot next to a window rather than under a lamp, and keep the shadow of your phone off the page.
- Fill the frame. A signature that covers most of the picture keeps more detail than a small one in the middle of a page.
Remove white background from signature scans
Scanners and phone scanning apps often produce a slightly grey or uneven page instead of pure white. The cutout clears that paper as well, but check the lightest parts of the signature, because pale strokes are the first to fade into a grey background.
Phone photos add one more thing to watch. When you remove background from a signature photographed at an angle, the strokes keep that slant and look stretched in a document. Hold the phone parallel to the page, or use a document-scanning mode, which many phones offer and which straightens the page before you upload it.
If a stroke comes out broken, first check that the image type is still Anime / illustration. If it is, the source is usually the problem: sign again with a thicker pen and capture it in better light. That is quicker than repairing gaps by hand.

Can I change the ink color?
Not here. The tool removes the background and keeps the strokes as they are. Sign in the color you want, or recolor the PNG afterwards in an image editor.
How to remove background from signature
